1. What this site records
Bitcoin Dark Web is an independent research and awareness venue. Our purpose is to inform analysts, journalists and security teams about anonymous ecosystems — not to profile visitors. Only the data we need to run the site reliably is collected.
- Server access logs: standard request logs containing IP address, timestamp, request URL, user agent and referrer. These are kept for a short rolling window strictly for abuse mitigation and capacity planning.
- Aggregated statistics: anonymous tallies of pageviews and searches, used only to measure topical interest. We do not retain personal identifiers.
- Form submissions: data you choose to provide via the contact or comment form (name, email, message). Without an explicit submission, we receive nothing.
2. Data we explicitly do not collect
- Visitor data is never sold, leased or shared with advertising networks.
- We do not embed third-party trackers or run any browser-fingerprinting scripts.
- No account, login or wallet is needed to read any part of the catalog.
- We do not track which .onion services you visit elsewhere — that activity stays between you and Tor.
3. Cookies and browser storage
The site uses only the cookies strictly required for it to function — for example, a session cookie when you submit a form, or a preference cookie if you toggle a UI option. We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear cookies in your browser at any time without losing access to the site.
4. External services we rely on
A few third-party services support the site for technical reasons:
- Hosting and CDN: our host handles incoming requests so pages can be served. They have visibility comparable to the access logs above.
- Web fonts: web fonts come from Google Fonts, so your browser may share its IP with Google during loading. If you would rather avoid this, blocking third-party fonts is fine — system fonts keep the site readable.
- Search engines: search engines index the site to help researchers find it. We have no influence over what those engines retain about your searches.
5. Adult audience
Bitcoin Dark Web is designed for adult professional and academic readers. We do not target children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of majority. If you are a minor, please do not use this site.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may be entitled to access, correct or erase any personal data we hold about you and to object to certain processing. Because we collect very little personal data on purpose, there is rarely anything identifiable for us to act on. If you have submitted a form and want your data removed, reach out via the link below.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data — HTTPS across the site, hardened server configuration and regular monitoring. No service can promise perfect security, so please apply your own operational hygiene when contacting us, particularly over the public internet.
8. Updates to this policy
This policy may be revised periodically to reflect new technology, regulation or how we work. Material changes will be flagged with an updated "Last updated" date here. Continued use of the site after a revision constitutes acceptance of the changes.
9. Reach out
Privacy or data-handling enquiries can be sent through the contact form with a relevant subject. We aim to reply in good time and never use form submissions for marketing.
